Self-management is all about being proactive and taking responsibility for your mental wellbeing.  It may take the form of going for a walk to reduce stress or watching a funny movie, or it may go as far as participating in interactive CBT activities online that help you to change negative thought patterns and behaviour and improve your coping skills.  

Self- management approaches can be highly valuable for improving your overall mental wellbeing, in addition to helping prevent relapse and improving coping skills in between appointments with your healthcare professional if you’re struggling. People who experience mild to moderate forms of depression usually stand to gain the most benefit from self-management approaches.

Self Management Tools
There are a range of self-management tools which you can draw upon to assist you in looking after yourself. While many self-management tools are free, others may be fee based.  The self-management resources that you find helpful will be personal to you, and will depend on the cause and severity of your symptoms and your particular stage of diagnosis and treatment.
