The research projects below need our help. The more people that participate in research, the more accurate the results. Please help out wherever you are able with the projects here.

An Investigation of Emotional Processing in Depression
Women with major depression are invited to participate in a study of emotional processing being conducted at the Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre.

Clinical Trials of an Antioxidant in the Treatment of Depression and Bipolar Depression
Two clinical trials are currently recruiting participants who are experiencing moderate to severe depression. These trials are investigating the use of an antioxidant medication called N-acetylcysteine (abbreviated to NAC) in the treatment of depression.

TMS: a non-medication treatment for depression
The Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre at the Alfred Hospital is accepting volunteers into a clinical trial of an investigational, non-medication treatment for depression, Transcranial Magentic Stimulation (TMS).

Online self-help program for Bipolar Disorder

GSK Potential Treatment Research
Centres in Melbourne and Queensland are conducting a clinical research study of an investigational drug for depression.


Couples and Antidepressants
Men and women are invited to be involved in a new Victorian research project exploring the impact of anti-depressant medications on sex and relationships.  Monash University is conducting research to explore how anti-depressant medications affect men and their partners.

Online Education for Bipolar Disorder
The University of New South Wales is conducting a study into a NEW web-based information program over 8 weeks.  It is designed to complement existing treatment and help people take control of their illness through education and self-management.

Complementary and Alternative Treatments Study
We want to hear from you if using complementary and alternative medicines (CAMs) and therapies has been either a positive or negative experience for you.

Adolescent Communication: Pragmatic Skills
This project is seeking people between the age of 15 - 19 years who have a diagnosed major depressive disorder and have English as a first language.  This is an opportunity to discuss any areas of ability or difficulty relating to communication.

Mild Brain Stimulation
The following study is being conducted by the Black Dog Institute.
This project is seeking people aged between 18 - 65 years, who have been experiencing mild depression prior to the study and have not recovered using antidepressants.

Tellsomeone
To participate in this project you must be 16 years or older.  The survey is online and will take approximately 1 hour to complete.

Lay Beliefs About Mental Health
This survey is open to adults aged between 18 - 65 years and requires participants to complete a questionnaire.

CONSUMER GUIDE: CLINICAL TRIALS
Ever wondered why a doctor has chosen one particular treatment to give you over another? A hunch? A tip from a colleague? A wild guess? The answer is, hopefully, because of evidence from a clinical trial that it works. And sometimes patients will be asked if they want to participate in a clinical trial to test a new treatment. What are the pros and cons of taking part?

"Try Another Way" Benzodiazepine Withdrawal Management Study
This research project needs people who are currently being prescribed Benzodiapines to fill out a questionnaire to find out what will make it easier to wean off Benzodiapines.

Augmentation Of An Antidepressant
Professor Gordon Parker is conducting a research project and needs people who live in Sydney and have a first or new episode of depression requiring treatment.

The peer support service is facilitated through an email service, message boards and live chat.
