Aussie Helpers
Aussie helpers help fight poverty and lift the spirits of those severley affected by drought in the outback. Aussiehelpers have 25 volunteers and mainly work via 'bush Telegraph' to find farming families who are in desperate need of assistance.

beyondblue: the National depression initiative
As the Commonwealth Government's response to the challenge of depression in Australia, beyondblue provides details on a range of projects under way around Australia, in addition to information for Professionals, Carers and Consumers. 
 

The Black Dog Institute 
The Black Dog Institute is an educational, research, clinical and community-oriented facility dedicated to improving the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of mood disorders.

Blue Pages: Information on Depression
This website provides information about depression and resources.  It was developed by the Centre for Mental Health Research (CMHR), Australian National University (ANU) and CSIRO Mathematical & Information Sciences (CMIS).

Depression & Mood Disorders Association of NSW
The Depression & Mood Disorders Association has a number of groups operating in the Sydney area.  The association is keen to start up new groups to explore ideas on the kind of support needed for people living with mood disorder.

GROW
GROW is a community of persons working towards mental health through mutual help and a 12 step program of recovery.   Small groups of people come together on a weekly basis to help each other deal with the challenges of life.

SANE
SANE is a national charity helping people seriously affected by mental illness through research, education and campaigning.  They have a series of 'fact sheets' you can download and an email based service providing advice over the internet.

Around the clock online peer support for you to talk about depression in a safe, supportive and anonymous environment  depressioNet provides information, help and peer support to people in the community impacted by depression. The peer support service is facilitated through an email service, message boards and live chat.
Peer Support at depressioNet operates 24 hours a day, please remember that we are not a professional mental health service and cannot provide emergency assistance.
