Depression

Deep mysterious, draining depression
it creeps up behind you,
envelops you without warning

No reason, just because
suddenly, I can not bear to rise
the thought of joining the world
today, is too much
but I must.
oh they groan
she's sad again
I try on my different masks
perfect daughter, smiling girlfriend
but the panic is rising
bubbling just below the surface.

Please don't cry, try not to cry
just get through the day.
hang on best you can
because soon it will lift
as mysteriously as it arrived.
