Making Changes specialise in helping "people like us" overcome problems such as depression, anxiety, stress and insomnia, as well as helping people get more out of life and has now developed an online service for people who are seeking professional psychological counselling. The professionals at Making Changes specialise in cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), a practical and highly effective therapy for people interested in making real and meaningful changes to the way they do things and to the way they think about things. CBT has also been proven to be one of the most effective therapies in treating depression and anxiety.
Making Changes Online Counselling is Now Available! Making Changes now offers a full range of psychological services on-line. This includes treatment for depression, anxiety, stress and insomnia, as well as coaching to get more out of life and achieve your goals. Using a combination of message-board and chat-rooms, email and telephones, as well as specially developed web-based resources, making changes on-line services will provide you with personalised assistance from a fully trained and trustworthy clinical psychologist. As always, all interactions are completely confidential but in contrast to face-to-face psychological therapy, Making Changes on-line services can be accessed and utilised from the comfort and privacy of your own home, at any time of the day or night. Making Changes on-line services can also help you develop better skills in areas of your life such as communicating assertively, managing your time, and achieving maximal personal productivity. To find out how you can take part in, and benefit from one of the making changes programs, please visit: http://www.makingchanges.com.au/services.asp Press Release Regarding Australia's First On-Line Psychology Service Sydney 14th May 2002: Australia's first fully Internet-based clinical psychology service will be launched on 1 July, offering personalised therapy and professional advice. Making Changes on-line services offer people the opportunity to easily access these services from their own home and at their convenience. The making changes on-line clinical psychology service will be provided by Dr. Timothy J Sharp & Associates, a consulting and clinical psychology practice based in Sydney. 'My aim is to make our expertise and services accessible to people who cannot easily obtain treatment or advice from a clinical psychologist; for example those who are simply too busy to attend during normal working hours, people in rural and regional Australia, people who are too distressed or disabled to leave home, shift workers and the time poor,' Dr Sharp said. 'Making Changes offers a private and confidential environment for people to interact one-on-one with their own psychologist. It will feature message-board and chat-room facilities, as well as traditional methods of communication such as telephone and email. Of course, people will be able to organise face-to-face meetings with their psychologist if they wish.' The new service will be available through the Making Changes website that offers a range of specially developed web-based resource materials. These are all based on well-established and effective psychological treatments (such as cognitive-behaviour therapy for depression and anxiety). 'The combination of these resource materials with on-line communication can help people overcome depression and anxiety, master stress and other worries, develop more positive thinking, and break bad habits', Dr Sharp said.
