Simon Canny Specialising in:
All of us have times when we benefit from support from family and friends. Sometimes their care is not enough, and you can access a brief period of professional care aimed at restoring or reaching well-being. Simon has worked with individuals and couples to improve quality of life and relationships for over 15 years. He combines evidence- based effective strategies (such as CBT or Cognitive Therapy) with a personal and caring approach aimed at assisting you to make the changes to your well-being. He has worked with people with significant long-term trauma, and uses hypnosis and EMDR techniques as necessary. Focussed psychological strategies (CBT) look at the relationship between thoughts, mood and behaviour. People prone to depression or anxiety, for example, are prone to the habit of focussing on negative, distressing thoughts that lead to and maintain upset and depression. Many people benefit from around 4-6 sessions of attendance with time to practicing skills, and apply them at home. Linking you in with support groups, other health professionals and social support is important to achieving and staying well. As your well-being increases, you will come to better identify your strength and skills, and use them to your benefit. Simon is a registered psychologist. Private health rebates may apply to reduce the costs of attendance. Referral from a medical practitioner is not necessary, but it most welcome. If worry, self-doubt or depressed mood are stopping you or someone you care from enjoying life, please contact him. Getting professional support is 'better thinking...for good living.' Therapy Types:
