Michael is an adolescent Psychologist working at the Albert Road Centre for Health in Melbourne.
Michael was educated in Kenya, England, New Zealand and Australia. Michael has worked in private practice as a family therapist, child psychologist and clinical psychologist, as an academic, researcher and he spent 4 years working as a political lobbyist. He has held a variety of appointments including Executive Director of the New Zealand Drug Foundation, Director of the Centre for Social Health at the University of Melbourne and Director of Education at the Centre for Adolescent Health. In addition to his clinical work, Michael runs his own consultancy, teaches part time as an Associate Professor in the faculty of Medicine at the University of Melbourne and is the Consultant Psychologist to the Australian Ballet School. Michael has been the recipient of a number of awards including the Australian Jaycees Outstanding Young Australian of the Year (1987), and in 1989 was awarded the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation's Inaugural Award for the Most Outstanding Achievement in the area of international health promotion. In 1997, he was made a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International in recognition of his work in the prevention of youth suicide. More recently he was appointed the Dr Ann D Clark Visiting Fellow at St Ignatius College Riverview in Sydney and is a member of the Board of Directors of CanTeen Australia. Michael spent almost 2 years as Channel 7's health psychologist on the '11 AM' show, a morning television program that was shown nationally in Australia, and is currently a regular on 'Today Tonight'.
