  • Anxiety Management
  • Fear of Driving
  • Depression
  • Sport Psychology
  • Intellectual Disability
  • Training Services

I have been working as a Psychologist for 22 years.  I work with individuals, groups and organisations.  I enjoy my work because it gives me an opportunity to work with people from a variety of backgrounds and help them to recognise issues that are impacting on them and ways that they can be supported to make changes that can enhance their enjoyment of life.

It is important that people I see, understand their feelings, are able to identify triggers that lead to them feeling a certain way and develop skills and strategies to deal with and manage issues.  I believe this approach empowers people and gives them a lifetime 'toolbox' that is tranferrable to a variety of situations that arise throughout their life from which they can choose the best tool for each situation.

I work in variety of areas including anxiety management, depression, post-traumatic stress, occupational stress, challenging behaviours and intellectual disability.  I work as a Consultant Sport Psychologist with the Tasmanian Institute of Sport and with the Tasmanian Tigers Cricket Team.

back.jpgI have developed a programme called 'Back in the Driver's Seat' for people with a fear of driving.  A fear of driving can affect an individual's well-being and confidence.  For some it can restrict their participation in recreational and work activities and impact on their level of independence, with many becoming reliant in family and friends or other means of public transport. The 'Back in the Driver's Seat' programme assists people who have a fear of driving to understand their fear, develop individualised return to driving plans and to apply strategies to manage their anxiety.  The programme involves 6 individual sessions and three practical driving lessons with a driving instructor.  The programme is suitable for people who have been involved in motor vehicle accidents, those who lack confidence to drive generally or who experience anxiety in specific driving situations.  The 'Back in the Driver's Seat: Understanding, Challenging and Managing the Fear of Driving' book was published in early 2003.
