  • Lifestyle problems (alcoholism, smoking, eating disorders)

Some individuals suffering with depression are also helped by medication but evidence shows that a combination of medical management and psychological assistance is most effective.

Remenyi and Associates Pty Ltd, trading as Occupational and Rehabilitation Psychology Associates, provides highly skilled psychological services which have empirical evidence for their effectiveness.  We conduct both individual, couples/family, and group programs.
Our expertise is in many areas of Clinical Psychology, particularly: chronic pain counselling, panic disorder, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anger management, phobias, behavioural, lifestyle and vocational adjustment, sleep problems and adjustment to disability.  Our psychological intervention involves an initial assessment to identify the client's major problems, and any other issues that may be underlying their current symptoms.

Our approach is psycho-educational with a strong emphasis on Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT).  Where appropriate, hypnotherapy is used, for example with chronic pain patients, tinnitus sufferers, and eating disorders.

Remenyi & Associates are aware that long-term counselling can become costly and unaffordable; therefore, we utilise a constructive approach in our psychological intervention, which entails setting therapeutic goals with realistic time-frames and measurable outcomes.

We have considerable experience with clients of WorkCover, TAC, Comcare, and large employing bodies.

Medicare will pay you a substantial rebate towards the cost of your psychological treatment if you have been referred by your GP under a GP Mental Health Plan (Medicare item 2710).  Psychiatrists and Paediatricians can make direct referrals without the 2710 Plan.  If you are a pensioner, concession or healthcare card holder with a valid referral, there are no out-of-pocket costs for the authorised sessions.  Some people choose to claim on their private health insurance instead.  Others may be eligible to have their costs paid by agencies such as WorkCover or the Transport Accident Commission.  Please call or email to obtain an information sheet on obtaining a Medicare rebate.
