CRISIS LINES

  • Emergency Services – 000 Ambulance, Police, Fire 
  • Lifeline – 131114 - 24/7 - Free anonymous generalist counselling that does not discriminate.
  • Suicide Call Back Service - 1300 659 467 - 10am to 8:30pm everyday - Referral line for people at risk of suicide, people caring for someone who is suicidal or people bereaved by suicide. Service offers six sessions of 50 minute telephone counselling over a period of up to six months.

  • Alice Springs Community House CATT (Crisis Assessment Team): (08) 8951 7710 (business hours) or (08) 8951 7777 (after hours).

  • General crisis counselling - 1800 019 116 - 24/7 - Trained telephone counsellors will listen to and help you with your problem.  Qualified psychologists are available by telephone or for personalised counselling.

  • Top End Association of Mental Health - 08 8948 4399 or 8999 4988 - 24/7 - On-call (crisis assessment, referral and treatment) Team, community housing, and respite accommodation for people with psychiatric disabilities.
  • Kids Help Line – 1800 55 1800 - For young people aged 5-25; free, confidential and anonymous counselling.

  • Sexual Assault Referral Centre – Darwin – 8922 7156
    24/7 - Counselling service to both adults and children who may have experienced (recently or many years ago) any form of sexual assault.
  • Sexual Assault Referral Centre – Alice Springs - 8951 5880 - 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday - Counselling/support for women, men and child survivors.

  • TEMHS - Tamarind Centre - 8999 4988 - Services for people who are experiencing significant disability as a result of mental health problems.  TEMHS provides assessment and referral; case management; training and education; inpatient services and a 24-hour emergency assessment service.

Around the clock online peer support for you to talk about depression in a safe, supportive and anonymous environment  depressioNet provides information, help and peer support to people in the community impacted by depression. The peer support service is facilitated through an email service, message boards and live chat.
Peer Support at depressioNet operates 24 hours a day, please remember that we are not a professional mental health service and cannot provide emergency assistance.
