Mission Statement
depressioNet is committed 'around the clock' to improving the mental health and wellbeing of people impacted by depression through the provision of a unique internet based service, offering hope and understanding, information and support.

To ensure that no person living with depression ever feels they are alone by providing a safe place to turn 24 hours a day to find hope, understanding and support;

To increase understanding of depression, its causes, impacts, and options for effective treatment and management;

Ensure people living with depression are aware of the professional treatment and support and other relevant resources available and assist them to access these resources;

Increase the efficiency and benefits of professional treatment and support by encouraging people to take ownership of treament and outcomes;

Engage people living with depression in being part of the solution to the challenges of depression in Australia (rather than being 'the problem') and provide the opportunity for all to contribue to helping others in need;

To reduce the stigma surrounding depression, and, in particular, the stigma that people with depression feel towards having depression themselves;

To reduce the social isolation caused by depression;

Increase understanding of tools and strategies for (relapse) prevention maintaining mental health & wellbeing; and

Clearly define, document and establish a firm evidence base for the efficiency and effectiveness of the depressioNet service model and assist other organisations working to improve the health & wellbeing of Australians to implement this model.
